
The Commissions review proposed land development and redevelopment projects as well as other projects affecting water resources within the Shingle Creek and West Mississippi watersheds. Projects are reviewed in accordance with the management standards and policies of the Commissions and recommendations are made to the member city in which the project is located. It is the city's responsibility to enforce the Commissions’ recommendations to ensure that natural resources are protected and water quality improvements are implemented. Wetland Conservation Act (WCA) - The Shingle Creek Commission currently serves as the local government unit (LGU) for administering the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act (WCA) of 1991 unless member cities have elected to serve in that capacity. The cities of Crystal, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, New HopePlymouth have previously notified the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) and the Commission of their intent to serve as LGUs. and
