Grants

The Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Commissions actively seek grant opportunities to fund Commission projects. It is anticipated the number of grant opportunities will increase due to the passage of the 2008 Clean Water, land and Legacy Amendment that will provide the state of Minnesota with about $276 million annually for 25 years to fund the environment and the arts. the amendment added 0.375  percent onto Minnesota's sales tax, generating revenue for the state to make available for environmental and arts causes. Of those funds, 33% will go for water quality, 33% for wildlife, 19.75 for arts funding and 14.25% for parks.

This table shows the over $2.4 million in grants and funding the Commissions and member cities have received since 1999.
