Welcome to the Shingle Creek Watershed!


The Shingle Creek Watershed Management Commission is the local governmental unit responsible for protecting the water resources of the Shingle Creek watershed.

Portions of the areas of the cities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, New Hope, Osseo, Plymouth and Robbinsdale are all in the Shingle Creek watershed.

Shingle and Bass Creek TMDL

The review process for the draft Shingle Creek and Bass Creek Biota and Dissolved Oxygen TMDL Report has been completed. The final draft is being forwarded to EPA for their consideration and approval.

At the September 8, 2011 Shingle Creek WMO meeting the Commissioners approved the Shingle and Bass Creeks Biota and Dissolved Oxygen TMDL Implementation Plan, subject to the review by the TAC of the revisions made based on comments by the MPCA since the TAC last reviewed the Implementation Plan. The Shingle and Bass Creek Biota and DO TMDL Implementation Plan with the MPCA comments and how they were addressed in the final version of the Plan is now available.


Major Plan Amendment projects to CIP

A Major Plan Amendment was adopted by the Shingle Creek/West Mississippi Watershed Management Commissions at their September 9, 2010 meetings. The amendment revised the Capital Improvement Program to add seven projects including, for the first time, four projects in West Mississippi. Other projects were rescheduled to other years at the request of the respective cities.

Commission Meets Monthly


The Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watershed Management Commissions meet on the second Thursday of each month at the Clubhouse at Edinburgh USA, 8700 Edinbrook Crossing, Brooklyn Park, MN. The Shingle Creek meeting begins at 12:45 p.m. and the West Mississippi meeting follows. The agenda is updated seven days prior to the meeeting.
