Curly-leaf Pondweed Treatment
The Shingle Creek Watershed Management Commission plans to treat curly-leaf pondweed in Bass Lake in May 2022.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has granted to the Commission a waiver of the requirement to obtain the signatures of approval of owners of lake-shore property. Instead, the Commission is notifying property owners of the treatment by posting public notice. The treatment is for curly-leaf pondweed which is a non-native plant that grows in the spring and early summer. Key information: 1) Proposed date of treatment: May 12th-May 28th. 2) Target Species: curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus 3) Method of control: chemical application of diquat by MNDNR certified applicator 4) Landowners may request that control not occur within 150 feet of shore adjacent to their property.
